THE ROLE

As Legal Counsel (m/f/d), you will be part of our global legal team and provide business-minded legal support to our teams in EMEA. You’ll work closely with colleagues in Germany and occasionally with our counterparts in the US. You will become a trusted advisor on a wide range of legal matters – with a strong focus on commercial law, contract negotiation, and data privacy.

This is an ideal opportunity for a recently qualified German lawyer or someone with 1-3 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department who wants to take the next step in a fast-paced international tech environment.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to the IGEL Group’s EMEA entities across various legal topics such as contract, commercial, competition and data protection law
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including sales, licensing, technology partnerships, distribution, service and procurement contracts, and NDAs
  • Be the primary point of contact for data protection topics in EMEA and work closely with IGEL’s external Data Protection Officer
  • Help improve and maintain IGEL’s legal templates, policies, and processes
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects, ensuring legal compliance without losing sight of business goals
  • Identify and address legal risks in dialogue with business partners and pursue a hands-on approach to resolving them.
  • Operating with autonomy and growing control of the delivery of the above accountabilities, both directly and indirectly, with experience.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (Zweites Staatsexamen)
  • Ideally 1–3 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house – entry-level candidates with a strong interest in tech and commercial law are also welcome
  • Familiarity with contract, commercial, competition and data protection law
  • Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills, ideally in software/IT contract environments
  • Excellent fluency in both written and spoken German and English
  • High level of commitment, analytical and entrepreneurial thinking, and the ability to work on a wide variety of   high-priority topics in parallel in a fast-paced environment
  • Eager to grow, while being a team player with the willingness to always move forward proactively

WE OFFER
  • A workplace run on trust, empowerment, and feedback with a positive, inspiring working atmosphere
  • An environment in which you can help shape a growing company with your ideas
  • A hybrid work culture with flexible working times, so that you can combine your demanding work with your private goals and requirements.
  • Flexible work  abroad policy, up to 90 days per year in EU countries or countries, where IGEL has an office.
  • Diverse sports offerings, co-financed company pension plan and many more benefits
  • A highly motivated team that is already looking forward to your support and to developing strategies and achieving common goals together with you
  • We celebrate tolerance and diversity, and we are committed to building teams that represent a variety of backgrounds, skills and perspectives
