Teamlead (m/f/d) SCSW Engineering for Earth Observation Spacecraft
OHB System AG's System Software division develops embedded control software and the necessary software infrastructure for satellites and satellite-based instruments.
The SCSW Engineering department covers the creation of satellite control software, from requirements engineering through design and implementation to the creation of unit tests
Against the background of changing architectures and requirements, we need your support in realizing our vision of delivering high-quality software in a complex system and process landscape! You will be leading a team of dedicated software engineers to realize projects in the Earth observation domain. Your team leading activities will complement your involvement as a leading development engineer, ideally in the field of software systems engineering, requirements engineering, or lead software developer.
Your Tasks
- Leadership: Provide leadership
to the team, inspiring a culture of excellence, collaboration,
responsibility and trust - Employee
Development: Foster the professional growth of team members through
mentorship, training, and constructive feedback, both in terms of space
system software development as well as personal / soft skills - Continuous
Improvement: Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of
Satellite Control Software engineering - Process Enhancement:
Support the introduction of new processes and tools, implementing process
improvements within the department, and ensuring their application and
compliance in projects - Knowledge
Development and Transfer: Collaborate across teams and with Software
Division management colleagues to ensure cross-project knowledge transfer,
promote standardization, and facilitate communication of overarching
information; support the definition and execution of technology
development or FFE projects - Project Staffing and
Recruiting: Analyze and monitor personnel staffing needs for individual
projects, initiate recruitment, and participate in the recruitment process
in collaboration with the head of department and the HR business partner
The team leading
activities complement operational involvement in one or more OHB project(s) in
accordance with the existing job description, as well as software concept
contributions to projects proposals and studies. Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Creation of
technical concepts and requirements for Satellite Control Software and
Instrument Control Software - Software
requirements engineering at Technical Specification (TS) and Requirements
Baseline (RB) level - Technical
leadership/guidance for requirements, software architecture, design,
implementation and test - Negotiating
technical solutions with customers, partners, and suppliers
You report to the head of
the SCSW Engineering department.
Your Qualifications
- Completed studies in
a suitable field (e.g. aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering,
physics, ...), or an equivalent qualification - Several years of
professional experience in the software engineering of complex systems - High degree of
communication and leadership skills, whereby the ability to work in a
team, a sense of responsibility and an entrepreneurial mindset are
required as well as a high degree of result orientation and cost awareness
- Quality awareness
and application of processs models and standards such as ECSS-E-ST-40C and
ECSS-Q-ST-80C or comparable (e.g. DO-178B) , CMM, SPICE etc. - Enthusiasm and
self-motivation; independence; flexibility and proactivity - Advanced proficiency
in English and proficiency in German or willingness to learn German
