As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team in Bremen or Hamburg, Germany.

In this role, you will provide legal guidance and support across various business functions, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. You will play a key role in managing legal risks, negotiating contracts, and advising on corporate matters to support our fast growth and expansion into new areas. You will report to the Epassi Group’s Chief Legal Officer located in Helsinki.

Main Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and policies
  • Ensure compliance with local, EU, and international laws and regulations, including also tax regulation of employee benefits.
  • Implement group compliance policies locally and train your colleagues in various departments
  • Draft corporate resolutions and ensure compliance with the corporate governance framework
  • Manage legal disputes, litigation, and liaise with external legal counsel when necessary
  • Support the group wide DPO on data protection issues including negotiating DPAs and advising product team on GDPR compliance
  • Advise on employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic business initiatives
  • Conduct legal risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with a German law degree and Minimum 5-8 years of experience in corporate law and contracts preferably in-house in an international company or at a reputable law firm
  • Strong knowledge of German and European legal frameworks
  • We especially appreciate experience working abroad or working otherwise in multi-jurisdictional teams
  • Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken) is required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
